Dust extraction for optical sorting installation

Optical sorting installation? It really can’t do without dust extraction!

For this project, we traveled to the province of Flevoland (NL) to install a Meconaf dust extraction system for dust removal at an potato farm. The special aspect of this project is that our extraction system is installed on a state-of-the-art optical sorting installation.

Windshifting prevents camera image disturbance

A separator is placed in the sorting line to remove the potato leafs that remains in the product. However, this is not 100% effective, which is very important for optical sorting. Potato leafs can distort the camera images. Therefore, our extraction system is also equipped with a windshifting system that separates the last leafs from the potatoes.

Dust-free product flow at optical sorting installation

We blow the leafs upwards through the product and extract them with a large suction hood placed above the product flow. The various extraction points further ensure a low dust working environment as the dust level is significantly reduced.
